Loma Linda University Medical Center
The newly constructed Troesh Medial Campus and Children’s Hospital towers were opened August, 2021 offering state-of-the-art healthcare to our patients. As Level I trauma centers, both the adult and children's hospitals serve a geographic area roughly equal to 25 percent of the State of California. The ED treats a high volume of critically ill patients. Of the patients evaluated, forty percent are children and are seen in the dedicated pediatric department. As an academic facility, LLUMC commonly treats patients with unusual or complicated medical conditions. We have one of the largest pediatric intensive care units in the western United States, an active transplant center and a cutting edge cancer center.
Riverside University Health System Medical Center
Riverside University Health System Medical Center (RUHS-MC), formerly Riverside County Regional Medical Center, is a 439-bed Level II trauma center and is the largest trauma center in Riverside County. The hospital is state of the art, and is dedicated to serving the county and surrounding regional patients. Emergency medicine residents treat the diversity of illnesses typical of an underserved population. Emergencies relating to complications of poorly controlled diabetes, street drug abuse, trauma and psychiatric illnesses are common. As RUHS-MC is the designated county/trauma receiving hospital, residents are exposed to a significant amount of both blunt and penetrating trauma.
Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center
The Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Affairs Medical Center is a 560-bed facility located in the city of Loma Linda, just a few blocks from Loma Linda University Medical Center. Emergency medicine residents spend one month of their PGY-1 year on the anesthesia service and one month of their PGY-2 year serving as senior resident for the busy coronary care unit/medical intensive care unit.
St. Bernadine Medical Center
St. Bernadine Medical Center is a 342-bed community hospital in San Bernardino. PGY-2 and PGY-3 LLUEM residents rotate for one month as a senior resident in the busy SBMC ED. Residents are exposed to EM in a community setting.
